Abstract. Sufardin, Sriwulan, Anshary H. 2022. Gyrodactylus (Monogenea: Gyrodactylidae) on marine ornamental fish Amphiprion percula from a aquaculture facility in Indonesia. Biodiversitas 23: 1023-1030. As popular (MOF), clownfishes are widely traded globally due to their beautiful appearance and relative ease of maintenance the aquarium. There is large amount literature biology ecology, but still lacks data parasites, especially about monogenean gyrodactylidae. The first investigation was conducted during March-August 2019. study revealed occurrence infection clownfish A total 50 samples were collected farm located Takalar, South Sulawesi, Parasitological examination using smear method performed skin, fins, gills. Parasites each individual counted directly under stereomicroscope. Morphological measurements monogeneans ImageJ 1.46r software. Parasite infestation analyzed statistically Kruskal-Wallis test linear regression. Based morphology, parasites infecting A. identified as Genus resembled described black sea. prevalence spp. 100% caudal fin classified very severe with 1908 overall. This shows intensity range 8-75 parasites/fish categorized moderate intensity, which 6-55 parasite/fish for 55-100 infection. higher than other organs significantly positively correlated size. report Indonesia adds knowledge gyrodactylid host fishes patterns.

Occurance of Gyrodactylus spp (Monogenea: Gyrodactylidae) from Iranian freshwater fishes

Thirty three Gyrodactylus spp have been found on the gills and body surface of both wild and farmed freshwater fishes in Iran. Among them nine species have been identified up to the species level, which are new locality records. The identification of the others, mainly belong to endemic wild freshwater fishes, need further studies. Among the known species, Gyrodactylus derjavini (Mikhailov, 197...

Speciation by host switch and adaptive radiation in a fish parasite genus Gyrodactylus (Monogenea, Gyrodactylidae).

Four hundred Gyrodactylus species have been formally described, but the estimated number of species in this fish ectoparasite genus of Monogenean Platyhelminthes is more than 20,000. The unusually high species richness has lead to the hypotheses of speciation and adaptive radiation via host switching. These hypotheses were tested by reconstructing a molecular phylogeny for the subgenus G. (Limn...

Monitoring environmental effects of marine fish aquaculture

As mariculture production increases in both northern and southern Europe its conflict with other users of the marine environment, for space and other environmental services, becomes ever greater. Implications of these increases and conflicts require that careful environmental management of aquaculture practices be considered, which rely heavily on the process of monitoring. Monitoring studies f...
